Nyabibwe, DRC – February 7, 2025- A recent report from the armed group AFC/M23 alleges that a Congolese Air Force Sukhoi-25 fighter jet bombed the Nyabibwe region, killing four civilians, including an infant. The report, published via social media, claims the attack targeted a densely populated area, further escalating tensions in the conflict-ridden eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Another out of the many insidious crimes committed on the Congolese people by Felix Tshisekedi

This report was published in a press release as seen below.

The report also states “We strongly condemn the criminal activities of MONUSCO in Goma, it has released 100 FARDC and FDLR fighters into the city to massacre civilians. We captured five of them (3 FARDC and two FDLR) in possession of four weapons and three grenades”
What makes this report vital to the confusion of the ‘Rwanda Blame’ is MONUSCO is also the lead source of report of deaths that many people are referencing. In the MONUSCO report it links the liberation of Goma with the report of 2000 deaths. Many believe MONUSCO could be participating in a genocide and using the liberation to excuse it’s murderous acts?

This incident adds to a growing list of human rights violations allegedly committed by the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo) under President Félix Tshisekedi. Reports from humanitarian organizations and local witnesses have accused the Congolese military of indiscriminate attacks, forced displacements, and war crimes in their ongoing conflict with armed groups. However, these violations often go unreported or downplayed by the United Nations peacekeeping mission (MONUSCO), fueling distrust among local populations.

Growing Opposition to MONUSCO in the DRC

For years, many Congolese have viewed MONUSCO with suspicion and resentment, citing allegations of sexual violence, resource looting, and failure to protect civilians. Multiple reports have documented cases where UN peacekeepers were accused of rape, sexual exploitation, and smuggling minerals out of the DRC. The UN itself acknowledged misconduct within its ranks, but many believe accountability remains weak.

Protests against MONUSCO have turned deadly. In August 2022, at least 36 people were killed when Congolese security forces opened fire on demonstrators demanding the UN’s withdrawal from Goma and other eastern cities. In September 2023, another massacre occurred in Goma, where at least 56 civilians were killed while protesting against both MONUSCO and the government’s handling of the security crisis.

UN Fabricates Blame On Rwanda; Can the UN Be Trusted in the DRC?

The UN’s role in the DRC remains controversial. While MONUSCO claims to work towards peace, critics argue it has failed to neutralize armed groups despite being deployed for over 25 years. Furthermore, the UN Security Council frequently condemns M23 while overlooking accusations against the Congolese army, leading many to question whether the UN’s stance is impartial. Despite all this, it is the UN report that continues to push the narrative that Rwanda is behind these atrocities.

With MONUSCO’s planned withdrawal from South Kivu in 2025, concerns remain over whether the FARDC can effectively protect civilians or if violence will escalate further. For many Congolese, the choice is clear: they no longer trust the UN to bring peace to their country.
